President Maithripala Sirisena says the policy carried out by the government for the safeguarding war heroes is very strong.

He said the government will appear for the safety of all war heroes from Commander in Chief to the soldier in the lowest rank, from up to bottom. He emphasized that the government will not allow any foreign force to lay a finger on any of our war heroes and that is the government’s policy.

The President was speaking on the occasion to vest the reverse osmosis plant, built at Ritigahawewa temple in Horowpathana with public today (Sep.10).

The President, referring to the statement made by an anti-government retired military officer who said the ‘most disgusting thing he noticed in this government is beating and chasing the disabled war heroes’, said it was the same people who created a unfortunate situation by sending some people who are not real war heroes to protest. “The people who created that situation are now complaining against the government”, the President said.

“Whatever conspiracies are done by whomsoever, the government will always perform for the duty towards safety and the welfare of the war heroes”, the President emphasized.

The osmosis plant at Ritigahawewa is the 250th reverse osmosis plant, under the national program to prevent kidney diseases. The cost of these reverse osmosis plants is Rs. 383 million.

The President vested another 10 reverse osmosis plants, built in Anuradhapura District, through remote communication technology.

The President presented a cheque of Rs. 45 million to the Ministry of City Planning and Water Supply to provide new water supply connection to 5,000 families in the Poḷonnaruwa district, donated by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKDu).

President Sirisena also presented a memento to Captain M.C.E Dissanayake in recognition of the contribution made by the Sri Lanka Navy towards the prevention of chronic kidney disease in the country.

Addressing the gathering the President further said that the government has paid special attention in strengthening the economic conditions of the families affected by CKDu.
