In affirming the relations and cooperation between United States and Sri Lanka, the annual state visit of Jeffery Feltman, United Nations(UN)-Secretary-General for Political Affairs has taken place for the fourth consecutive year. He called on President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s Residence, today (09).
He expressed appreciation over the programme conducted by the President to stabilize democracy, peace and harmony in the country. He assured fullest support and complimented the government for it’s commitment.
The President expressed his gratitude for the support, aid and response given by UN, and mentioned his expectations on the future support of UN regarding the development of the country.
Furthermore, President Sirisena said Sri Lanka would continue its foreign policy of friendship with all the nations.
Mr Jeffery Feltman mentioned that the reconciliation programmes and the development goals will receive the highest support of UN in the future too.
