A new Police Station was opened in Pansiyagama of Polpithigama zone with the participation of North Eastern Province Governor Peshala Jayaratne today (16).
This was the 498th Police Station of the project of establishing 600 Police Stations in Sri Lanka in order to provide an efficient and effective service.
The people of this region faced the difficulty of having to go to Polpithigima Police Station travelling at least 30km or to visit Wariyapola, Gorakaela or Galewala Police Station, and putting an end to such struggle the new Police Station provides an excellent service featuring an Administrative Division, Crime Division and a Minor Complaints Division.
A plaque was unveiled by the North Eastern Province Governor Peshala Jayaratne.
Number of Buddhists monks from the region, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in North Central Province Nandana Munasinghe along with several others including Upul Chandana Abeysinghe and Buddhika Siriwardane were present at the event alongside the Senior Director of Media – Presidential Secretariat Dharmasri Bandara Ekanayake.
