Secretary to the President Participates in Offering Pirikara to the Maha Sangha near the Presidential Secretariat

The Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, took part in offering Pirikara to the Maha Sangha during the Pindapatha Charikawa (alms round), which began this morning (03) near the Sambuddhaloka Temple in Fort, as it made its way to the Presidential Secretariat.

 

The annual Pindapatha Charikawa (alms round), organized by the Kandy Buddhist and Welfare Associations, aims to enhance the welfare of students studying in Pirivens and Dhamma Schools (Sunday school) in remote areas across the island.

 

This year, around one hundred members of the Maha Sangha participated in the procession. Staff from several government and private institutions in Colombo Fort gathered along the roadside to offer pirikara to the monks.

 

Staff of the Presidential Secretariat including Senior Additional Secretaries to the President Roshan Gamage, K. M. N. Kumarasinghe and Prasanna Chandith also joined in the pirikara offerings.
