The official state welcome ceremony for President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is currently on a state visit to the Maldives, was held this afternoon (28) at the Republic Square in the capital city of Male.
President Dissanayake was warmly received upon his arrival at Republic Square by the President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu with full honours.
Following this, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake was accorded a guard of honour by the Maldivian National Defence Force and joined in observing the ceremonial parade of the military.
Subsequently, an introduction between the Maldivian hosts and the Sri Lankan delegation took place.
Following the state welcome, bilateral discussions between the two leaders are scheduled to take place.
President Dissanayake is accompanied on this state visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, along with a delegation of senior government officials.
