Ambassador of China, Qi Zhenghong called on President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat, today (04).
The Chinese Ambassador extended his best wishes to President Wickremesinghe and discussed the manner in which the bilateral relations could be further strengthened.
During the meeting the President reiterated Sri Lanka’s firm commitment to the one-China policy, as well as to the provisions of the UN Charter on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations.
He observed that countries must refrain from provocations which further escalate the current global tensions, and pointed out that mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries are important foundations for peaceful cooperation and non-confrontation.
